Assistant, Post Production (Contract)

Location: Remote, Anywhere USA ok.

Block by Block Creative builds stories, creates content, and designs social media strategies for non-profits, NGOs, and other mission-driven organizations. 

We are seeking a Post Production Assistant, to join our small team of creatives and advocates, and support multiple multimedia projects primarily during post production. We are looking for someone who loves storytelling, wants to learn post production workflows, and has an interest and passion for the progressive issues our clients work on including: reform of the criminal justice system, Indigenous-led conservation, voting, disability rights, and more.



You will be required to attend our weekly team meetings and occasional ad hoc meetings or trainings online via videochat. While working mostly on your own, flexible schedule, you must be available during business hours on weekdays to complete assignments.


Ingest and log footage.
Order and apply transcript to videos.
Create rough stringouts.
Conform paper cuts.
Pull selects.
Research archival photos and videos.
Research and secure stock music, footage or images.
Assist with media management and backup.
Create captions.
Record and apply audio description.
Apply ASL picture in picture.


Have the gear. We require a MacOS Computer, running the latest OSX. If you do not have an Adobe account, we’ll provide you with one. You must absolutely have a reliable computer and internet connection.

Know the basics. If you’ve used Adobe Premiere and the Creative Cloud suite before and can do basic editing, you’re good to go. We’ll get you up to speed on our workflow.

Communicate clearly. We are a dispersed team across different timezones, communicating entirely online, so clear communications is absolutely essential.

Give a damn. The projects we work on advance the most pressing progressive causes on the planet. If you’re a storyteller who cares about human rights and justice for all, this is the place for you.

This is a contract position for approximately three months, from Aug 2020 - Nov 2020, with the possibility of an extension. The assistant editor will work up to 20 hours per week at $20/hr.
