2021-22
Protection & Advocacy Projects

Sharing expertise. Splitting costs. Succeeding together.

Over the last few years, P&A's have collaborated with Block by Block on creative projects, sharing expertise and splitting the cost of producing short, accessible videos on a variety of topics important to constituents.

This includes the animated Disability Rights Explains series and 2020’s Vote for Access series.

This year, P&A's once again came together to brainstorm ideas with Block by Block for existing series and brand-new concepts that we can create together.

Now, Block by Block is looking for P&A's to commit to sponsor these ideas, so we can work towards producing more collaborative videos over the next several months.

Below are brief descriptions of these ideas so far. In order to go into production, ideas must receive a certain number of sponsorship commitments by P&A's.

You can make a sponsorship commitment by filling out the form below. Don’t worry — this is not a final financial commitment, just a way to note your interest and intention to sponsor.

Once we hear back from everyone, we’ll verify your sponsorship preferences.

Depending on which projects go forward, we anticipate delivery of videos in late spring of 2022.

This year, we are also offering optional add-ons for P&A sponsors who are interested.

The logistics of social media campaigns can be overwhelming.

Our digital team can provide a posting and promotion service to help you get these videos out to the right audiences and report back on the results.

Advocacy Series

covid-19 impacts project

The COVID-19 pandemic not only harmed people with disabilities and their families but also shed light on serious, long-standing injustices the disability community was already facing.

This series aims to put these issues front and center for policymakers by highlighting real stories of constituents from a variety of states.

Stories explore:

  • Healthcare rights, threatened during the pandemic by rationing and ethics boards.

  • Voting rights, threatened when states don’t implement accessible vote by mail or other accommodations.

  • Olmstead rights: we saw the pandemic start at nursing homes and ravage congregant settings of all kinds.

This project is both a video production and online advocacy campaign. P&A's will share expertise, resources, and digital media reach by collaborating on a coordinated social media release to maximize impact.

Each video will follow one real story that helps elucidate the problem at hand.

Stories will be selected for their universality regardless of where the story takes place, but sponsors will have the opportunity to customize messages specific to their states.

Sponsors receive:

  • 3 documentary-style, fully accessible videos for use on web, social and email campaigns.

  • Customized sections of each video for each state.

  • Video with English narration, audio description, English captions, Spanish subtitles, and ASL picture-in-picture.

  • Social media kit for posting during coordinated campaign.

Sponsorship fee: $5,000 per P&A Sponsor
Sponsor requirements: Series requires at least 5 sponsors to be produced.
